Club:Manchester City

Position:Winger

Born: 11 July 2000

Oscar Garré, who was part of the Argentina side who won the World Cup at Mexico '86, is very proud of his grandson – mainly because for the first time a football player named Garré is not a defender!

Benjamín was signed by Manchester City last year from Velez Sarsfield's academy but has since been subject to a hearing at the court of arbitration for sport over Velez's accusations – denied by City – that the transfer contravened Fifa rules over the signing of minors from outside the European Union.

Garré signed an improved contract at City in the summer and has been a regular in the Uefa Youth League, scoring once and providing three assists. He has also been called up to train with Pep Guardiola's first-team squad and impressed the City manager.

Garré is comfortable in a free role like Paulo Dybala at Juventus but can play on either wing. "He brings energy, he brings quality," said the former City coach Lee Carsley. "He's very disciplined in the way that he plays. With his attitude as well, when you add all the ingredients in, he's got a chance."
