Internazionale already had two young Belgians on their payroll in Xian Emmers and Zinho Vanheusden and they brought in a third in January by seeing off Racing Genk's attempt to sign Van Den Eynden, one of the country's brightest young talents.

Van Den Eynden, a highly rated central defender who also came through the ranks at KV Mechelen, has been a mainstay of Belgium's under-18 squad and possesses the qualities that Italians like in a defender: excellent vision and an understanding of the game. He also knows how to play out from the back.
