Arsenal fans will remember Serge Gnabry bursting onto the scene in the 2013-14 season, scoring a goal in his second league game of that campaign and then, after impressing some more, slowly fading from view.

Injuries hindered him but so did a serious lack of opportunities at the Emirates.

He was also loaned to West Brom, where it is always difficult for an attack-minded player to break through under Tony Pulis.

At the Olympics in the summer, Gnabry showed his worth.

He scored six goals as Germany reached the final. Arsenal should have taken note but instead sold him to Werder Bremen for just £5million.

A mistake? Most definitely. He's bagged 10 in his debut Bundesliga campaign and attracted attention from Bayern Munich. Arsenal may rue the day they let this young one go
